Goonies and Raiding Thursday, February 05, 2009
3:53 PM

Last night, I was approached about taking Vanyda out of Goonies and moving her to Nurfed so that we could raid more. My understanding is that those who asked this want a unanimnous guild decision, because they don't want to leave anyone. I would like to try to explain why I said no to this proposition:

Goonies is my home. I understand that we wouldn't be breaking the guild, but it wouldn't be the same at all. Nurfed is a raiding guild. They raid many nights a week, which some of you could do, but I can't. I'm also just not that hardcore. I like to raid when I have time, but I'm also going to school and working. And I have friends who don't play this game at all.

Because I was asked to consider it, I joined the raid last night with Nurfed. Yeah, we had some fun and, yeah, we got some drops, but I was honestly kinda bored. There was no sense of accomplishment for me. There wasn't hardly any excitement for me. Do you remember what Vent sounded like when we dropped a boss the first time in Kara? Or even the second? If you don't, go check out the videos Selphie made of those early runs. We were screaming because we were so proud of ourselves. I missed that last night. There wasn't even that response when we took down a boss that wiped us a couple times first.

I know we've been through good times with too many people for 10-mans and the frustration of not having enough for 25-mans. We've had lots of people who loved us, but left to be with real life friends, and tons of people who were douche-bags who screwed us over a time or two. We've had ups and downs, but that's what makes Goonies a family, my family. I love you guys more than I ever thought I could love pixels on a screen, because you aren't pixels on a screen. It is the person you are behind those pixels that makes you special to me, even if you've frustrated me.

I don't have a problem with recruiting new people if you guys want to do more raids, and I have even less problems with people pugging into bigger raids that we don't have the man-power to run. If we're going to recruit, let's do it the right way, though. Let's do it the way we found one-another. Which means we need to drop our near-ban on pugging and run with someone other than ourselves.

And if you decide a raiding guild is something you want, good luck to you. I don't wish any harm or ill will to anyone doing what they want to do. Will I miss your happy attitudes on Vent? Hell yeah. Will I stop talking to you in game? Hell no! But you must choose what is right for you. You pay your monthly fee just like I do.

i agree with you nyda. cant believe i said that can you??? when i took hycinthe out of the goonies and went into raiding guilds its was fun a got a lot of gear but it wasnt as much fun. people complained about others complained bout them not getting the drops cuzz they did more dps blah blah blah. that is one of the reasons that i dont like running outside the goonies. i remember when i first got pup to 70 snayke and eggy passed on gear for me cuz it was a better upgrade for me. i guess what i mean by this is the goonies may have its problems maybe not a lot of members but some of the greatest attitudes in the game. when i get back to playing i wont be playing hycinthe or pup but i wil be leveling up my warlock or druid and that will be my main and that will remain in goonies for goonies use only. i might even bring back hycinthe cuz vile darkness is too big. they run 3 or 4 raids a day and you have to do all sorts of stupid stuff to get in the raid that day. i like the pick up raids we do and the fact that we get wiped because i wanna prove hycinthe can tank as holy. what it comes down to is the goonies is my family and i wont ever be gone even though there is a certain priest/pali the hates me *cough cough* selphy love ya. have fun be safe and hope to see yall in a few week. oh yeah and i agree with pugging a few people here and there because otherwise you will not be able to find a worthwhile possible guildie if you dont bring them into raids with you. ok im done talking now later

I'm moving Snayke to a raid guild. My alts will be in Goonies, where my friends are. This is to insure my place in the raid instead of bieng "just a pug". Im not going to try to talk others into comming with me. Those that have told me you want to come know who you are. I cant force you to do what you really want. Good luck with that.

I know that I've had a few ups and downs with the guild, and I've been kicked out once, (jokingly by Tarm) and left once for a few days because of both misperceptions and really, just plain stupidity, but the Goonies is my home. And as much as I would love to be able to do the big raids due to this profound sense of missing out on what is my favorite part of the game in all of BC and before, I couldn't stand to do them with any guild but the Goonies. I remember when I first joined. Everyone was a stranger and I felt like I'd never get to be one of the... "Important" members I s'pose. It took a long time for me to truly feel like I belonged in this guild, or to feel accepted even, but over time things have changed. I wish we were big enough to raid, and not hardcore raid, but maybe once in a while. I missed Kara and all the fun everyone had there and I dont want to miss out on that again. I know I would never have as much fun in any other guild. So Goonies is my home and where I will stay.

Selphira won't be going anywhere. I have been having a blast raiding with the Dusk Raiders, and even though we make jokes about moving or switching, we all know we love where we are and theres no way of us moving. I am glad there is this close connection between the two guilds or at least a understanding that we like where we are.. Hurray for goonies.. Hurray for awesomness.
